The Des Moines Social Club

The Des Moines Social Club is pleased to announce its inaugural Afternoon Arts Program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Beginning January 5th, 2015, the program will take place from 3:00 – 5:30pm Monday – Friday, with an early start at 1:30pm on Wednesdays. The program will take place every day Des Moines Public Schools is in session through May 29th.

Each afternoon we will offer two to three arts-based classes, including visual art, music, dance, theater, and more. Students will be divided by age groups for most activities. Theater classes and occasional classes featuring guest artists will provide opportunities for all students to come together.

The program is open to any elementary school student attending Des Moines Public Schools. Students attending Walnut Street School will be picked up at school and walked one block to the Des Moines Social Club by adult chaperones each afternoon. Students attending other schools in the district will need transportation to DMSC.

Space is limited to 30 students total, 15 students kindergarten through second grade, and 15 students third through fifth grade. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with families wishing to enroll for the entire semester given priority. Registration packets are available by contacting Marnie Strate at the Des Moines Social Club at education@desmoinessocialclub.org or by calling 515-369-3672.
