IB/PYP

Hubbell Elementary is an International Baccalaureate World School offering the Primary Years Program.

General Overview

The Primary Years Program (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12. The PYP presents a balanced curriculum that emphasizes the development of five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitude, and action.
The PYP curriculum follows an inquiry-based approach to student learning (involving students in questioning, exploration, research, and critical thinking to take ownership of their learning). Students’ inquiry is framed by six transdisciplinary themes:

  • Sharing the planet
  • Who we are
  • Where we are in place and time
  • How we express ourselves
  • How the world works, and
  • How we organize ourselves

Note: Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programs: the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP), or the Diploma Program.
