Ashley Nelsen
Hello and welcome to Kindergarten! This is an exciting time in your child’s life, and I am excited to be a part of it! I graduated from Upper Iowa University with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a reading endorsement in 2011. That same year, I took my first teaching job with Des Moines as a first-grade teacher and continued my learning by attaining my ESL endorsement. The following year I started teaching Kindergarten and working on my Masters. Even though I completed my Masters in 2015, I am still teaching Kindergarten and just LOVE it! This is my calling! In addition to teaching, I am married with 3 children and several pets! My family and I love animals and being outdoors. Some of our favorite activities to do together include camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, and traveling!

My name is Stacy Pedretti and I am part of the Kindergarten team at Hubbell. Kindergarten is such a wonderful time in your child’s life, and I am so excited to help them find the joy in learning throughout this exciting year. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007 with a degree in Public Relations. I began working for Des Moines Public Schools in 2021 as a substitute teacher. During this time, I went back to school and earned my degree in Elementary Education. I am married to my husband Eric, and we have two daughters, Lillian and Caroline. When I am not teaching, you will find me cheering on my girls at their various activities. My family and I live in the Roosevelt neighborhood and we are proud to be a part of the community.
I am so excited to be part of the Hubbell Family! I live in Grimes and have three kiddos of my own. Ella is 18, Brayden is 12 and Sadie is 9. As a family we love bonfires, exploring in nature, taking road trips and camping. This will be my ninth year in education. I have taught preschool, kindergarten and third grade and feel extremely fortunate to be a teacher. I love the learning adventures of each new day! Together we will be working to create a caring classroom community in which we are all a special piece. Our classroom will provide opportunities for choice, mistakes and growth. I cannot wait for our kindergarten journey to begin!
