Hubbell student and his family delivers donated school supplies to Jamacia

Mrs. Schwertley’s first grade from King Elementary took on a last minute challenge to collect school supplies for the basic school in Run Away Bay. They made posters, spoke to other classes, and partnered with students who attend Merrill Middle School and Hubbell Elementary with Mrs. Schwertley three children. In one short week over 100 pounds of school supplies were donated.  Mrs. Schwertley and her family delivered the supplies while on their summer trip to Jamaica.  The students were very sweet and appreciated the supplies. The basic school housed over 60 kids in a space smaller than the smallest classroom in DMPS. The room was very hot with no air. They also had very few supplies or books. In the future we hope to help these kids again. It’s an amazing thing to see kids helping kids. A huge thank you to all who helped make this happen!
